Memories

So, 2257 posts, over 100,000 visitors, and 4 years later, the LPDL blog is still running. I was reading through some stuff from 2003/2004 (my first years) and came across this: http://lonepeakdrumline.blogspot.com/2005/01/memowies.html#comments

So, I thought I'd ask--what are some of your favorite drumline memories? What will you remember in 10 years? Who will you look back and miss?

Remember when jacob backhanded alex? That was awesome.

And the moment it was known that Alex had a dog named gyspy...

Painting the floor in the early hours of the morning...

Ryan Senior's picnic at band camp...

Jacob running out of the band room with the broken ghetto blaster. Oh man.

Sunsets. Mmm.

I miss the old days of drumline

jacob charging out of the percussion room with the broken ghetto blaster is definitely something i will remember in ten years. that was one of the funniest moments of my pitiful existence.

also, fresno tour. i think i will always remember that. and scpa. like playing that doorbell ditching tag game. and opening the door to alex and jake. and then regifting them. not to mention opening the door to discover jake in a shopping cart.

oh yeah, and the shopping cart races.

and elevator dances.

and the pee jug.

my first day of drumline when i played suspended cymbal and was terrified.

and, yes, musical personalities.

and when tom came into percussion class with cuts on his swollen face and telling me that andy had beaten him up. haha....

taking pictures of bent knees and elbows.

ryan senior shorts.

carnies. and everything related to them.

brazilians and everything related to them.

pig warriors.

ultimate frisbee.

winter season 2006: alcatraz. davis competition. pure misery.

the early days of the blog.

and, yes, ryan senior's swastika and papier mache turkey picnic.

"that's the baby!"

that one time when my shoe came off at the mountain view competition and my foot got all muddy and mrs. tolley cleaned my foot off for me. i know. wow.

the music parties.

bohemian rhapsody.

the banshee squirrel.

singing disney songs. poor unfortunate souls in particular.
"don't underestimate the importance of BODY LANGUAGE!! HAAAA!!!"

les poissons, les poissons!!

the topanga lecture.

watching spirited away and assigning people to characters. and watching howl's moving castle and assigning people to characters.

the barstow station.

alcatraz.

patrick. and when patrick was stolen. and the gifts we gave him. and his broken eyes.

jack handy.

and i'm not even going to say coffee in toilets and tubs, cause that's pretty much a given, right? same with the other hotel room shenanigans.

that one time we played signs. and that one picture game.

stuff on my cat.

singing hymns and saying prayers before every competition. and then andy saying, "what are you praying for? i'm already here!!"

playing the bass parts on our tummies before going on.

marching season 2006: midnight in transylvania. we lost to timpview. but af lost to davis. and davis captioned.

that one time when the colorguard was given the caption by mistake.

that other time when me and brittany went to the bathroom at a competition and we walked by this room where they were having cpr lessons or something. but anyways, there were dummies all over the floor, and we got really scared.

parades. and how they sucked.

haha, and how brandon forgot his carrier at that one parade. and his sash. so he just marched in the back with like the clarinets or something. and just marched. haha.

that one time we played at timberline and there were three basses. and the solos they made up.

various adventures in the carnie van. like that one time when he got pulled over. and there were a ton of us in the car. the next day's headline: "lone peak drumline died last night in a car wreck..."

jacob's terrorist van. that got totaled.

pep band. and how nobody came. and how it sucked. and that one time when brandon got nailed in the eye with an m&m.

playing at the stupid jazz game.

when nate white hanged my carebear. jerk.

the home-stays. those were the best.

how i called jordan crunchy. and how it stuck. :)

"can we please call these ghetto beats?"

but yeah. the memories definitely do not stop there. but this comment is sufficiently long now.

I will always remember the hit list. And how no one would ever tell me what that is all about. And still won't. That's right, I have bitter feelings.

Well, you've basically said everything. But I've got a couple more.

The notches, I (thankfully) only got to notch 2.

The miracle of Andy's recovery.

The many different versions of my name. (Crunch, Crunchy, Crunchles, Crunchles James McPhearson) Thank you Liz.

I have to leave but i'll continue this list later.

WHo will I remember?
everyone! duh-uhhh!!! haha

yeah so that should be fun to look back on.

i'll say it all!

actually i can't. i just tried and it didn't work.

I LOvE DRUMLINE!!! ohhh!

i have vivid images of the wonder! i could write books! we should compile, we should! yeah okay.

the sweetness of drumline glory and histories is so majestic and wonderous it's almost tangible in my mouth. ooh.

gah! yeah i miss it. it's not the same anymore. still fun, still awesome, just not quite the same without everyone. *tear is shed, a tear of joy*

love you love you love you!

*kupkc*
cupcake!

crunchy, i'd have to say that my favorite version of your name is definitely crunchables.

and there was that time we compiled a list of brittany's various names.

and how alex never really had a nickname.

oh my gosh!! and the forum!! hahahaha!!

the song about chutney.

the kohler's deli girl. and pizza sticks. man, i love pizza sticks.

haha, my first trip to beto's. and how i was told that the burritos there are baby-sized! and then i look around the restaurant to see a lady sitting her baby on the table. and how i shuddered. ew.

my surprise birthday when i turned 17. and the story of triplet boy. and how people were assigned to different pokemon. heh heh...

driving through the night and trying to sleep on the stupid busses.

you know what? i walked into a flying j the other day and the memories just washed over. so flying js, i guess.

the shimmy. ew.

close encounters with the gay-guard kind.

playing in the arcade at the gateway all day.

andy's frequent trips to the back of the bus.

that one time when justin was going to race mr. faires with his drums on. and then justin started beating him, so mr. faires shoved him, and justin went flying. drums and all. that was rather frightening, actually.

watching games of CGX.

synchronized fetal position. i kind of miss that, actually.\

that one time during marching band when we were split up in sectionals. or something. but anyways, when went to look for the basses, we found jacob on a drum major platform conducting the motion of the basses. another one of the funniest moments of my existence.

another funniest moment of my existence was when me and brandon and justin were...were we waiting for a lesson with andy? i don't remember. but we wrote a poem. the beatnik kind that is recited while music is playing. i recited, brandon was on bongos, and justin was on the piano. and ms j came and yelled at him for banging on it. and it was just hilarious. then stupid brandon lost it. jerk. i want it.

"would you rather have 100 cookie cutters or a wedded bliss kit?"

insanity & cretz. and alctaraz. haha.

jacob's maniacal laugh ringing from the darkness of the back of the bus.

making up raps on brandon's birthday and making him really annoyed. :)

Oh yeah. This isn't really a significant event, but that one time when we performed at westfield elementary. When we got done, the principal got up and said. "Did you know that they were using math?" and we all laughed a lot.

I can't even start...mine will be soo long. but right now I have to write about how much I love black people for my class. I'll work on this tomorrow

Oooo, ooh i got one. That one time when we made that poem on the white board in the orchestra room and we wrote it by having everyone write a one different line at a time. And i think Shawn once wrote something to Bob the janitor one time. Hmmm... 6 am in the orchestra room, memories.
